Where is the report from the coal face? What was she like? Did Calstock swoon? Did Calstock even remember it was on or did it clash with a festival of yogurt knitting? Come on Knect we need to know.

She was spiffing - as always. Some super new stuff from her recent ep (link above) and a rather lovely track from her new lp that is coming out next year. (Interestingly, young Gilad, who will be doing the production again, was clearly doing some planning of the arrangement as she was, unusually, performing that particular ditty unaccompanied).

The great Ben Bastin was as good an egg as he always is - a bassist supreme amongst mortals. He just looks like a bassist so has a head-start! Some scintillating solos and solid accompaniment which often included slapping and rattling the strings and woodwork.

Gilad was, as anyone who has seen him knows, was Gilad - wearing his Blockheads t-shirt in particularly fine style.

Seriously - a great night. Not a packed house but a good crowd.

After the gig we sold Sarah a small white wine and she was pleased to be charged £2-20. She told us she had been charged over £9 somewhere in London last week. Big city, huh.....!
