ATD prides itself on keeping all its members as happy as we are able. Today, Dantheman will be a very happy man. In view of his recent abusive posts with regard to some of the posters on here (which have been moved to the Archive for safe keeping) he has been suspended for a week. He has also had a message sent to him, via the e-mail he provided, warning him as to his future behaviour. We are sure he will be happy as it was this sort of response he was looking for.

ATD prides itself on accepting a range of views and robust expression of those views. It will not accept gratuitous abuse or threats.

I see that the email from the Mods has been noted and acted upon:

He's just digging a deeper hole for himself Laughing

The trust board used to be closed to guests when people started playing up but my thinking is rather than close the trust board off to any genuine guests I think it's better to leave it open.

If people continually abuse it then a ban can be issued on their IP if needs be.

Obviously if things get ridiculous then closing it is the only option.

As ever for what it's worth, my view is that a credible web forum such as this (shock) needs to be able to be able to use a range of tactics when the behaviour of user(s) is such that the credibility of the site is threatened.

As such, the use of suspensions & account terminations shouldn't be something to be 'ashamed' of.

The nub of the issue I suppose, is not whether there should be a bar, but at what height it should be set. This is where appropriate differentiation can be successfully used.

One of the very last things I want to do is to log on to any forum & have to navigate through pages of puerile spam before I can engage - it'd be the death of any good site.

I agree, Jon. The issue at the moment is that there are apparently multiple personalities using a variety of proxies from around the world.

As I have said before elsewhere, I think the poster raises important issues about the modding of this site. But there is a line between abuse and challenging posts. The line has been stepped over on a number of occasions.

Don't worry mods, for some bizarre reason it gets even busier with wankers when the Newell family go on holiday.
