| I'm sure July is near the end of the mackerel season in the south west which is why there are lots of small ones about. They soon will start their journey around the UK and get overfished off the Scottish coast, then back down into the Sw in jan/ feb when they should be bigger.

| There will be Mackerel off Plymouth until at least September when most of the shoals move off the end of Cornwall/Land End. A lot do move up to Scotland apparently and some of ours move into deeper water in the Channel approaches. As for the bigger Mackerel I find just as it gets dark they appear. I once saw a box of mackerel in Newport Market that were all 5 or 6 lbs, never caught anything over 2.5lbs myself. |

| Knecht- you could try some of the local fish firms- Moby Nicks, s&j fisheries (ivybridge) and I'm sure there's a couple of fish merchants in Looe also (ocean harvest). _________________ COYG! Sheridan's Green and White Army!

| I miss the fresh fish available in Cornwall. The butcher I use gets fish from St. Mawes so it's a day older than you get in Cornwall.
I'm going to see what they have today for sushi. Nice and quick, easy and very very tasty for supper tonight. |

| No sushi tonight The butcher advised me to order some and he would get it in fresh rather than take what's left. So have ordered some tuna, salmon and a dressed crab. It kind of made my journey into town in the fierce heat a waste of time, as I could have called from the comfort of the shade. I feel a little like Lawrence of Arabia now as I also walked to the pub to meet the Mrs from work. It was worth it for the ice cold Thatchers Gold and the camel enjoyed a bucket of water. |
