Plymouth pubs bought by Chinese multibillionaire in £2.7bn deal
Fortescue, Golden Hind and Tamar among 2,700 UK pubs, hotels and restaurants snaffled by world's 30th richest man

The Fortescue, in Mutley Plain, has been snapped up by Hong Kong’s richest family as part of a £2.7billion deal for the Greene King pub and hotel estate.

The pub, winner of CAMRA’s best Plymouth pub honour for five years in a row, is now owned by CKA Group, a vast global firm controlled by Li Ka-shing, the 91-year-old multibillionaire who also owns pharmacy chain Superdrug and mobile operator Three.

Also included in the CKA buyout are two other Plymouth watering holes: The Golden Hind, at Mannamead, and Crownhill’s The Tamar.

CKA swooped on 220-year-old pub and beer company Greene King in a megadeal which works out as being £1million for every one of its 2,700 pubs, restaurants and hotels.

Double FFS!

Does this mean I can have a chicken chow mein instead of an Ivor's on match day?

So its been acquired by Greene King one of the largest pub management groups in the Uk, not as the headline suggests an elderly Chinese Billionaire has decided that he simply had to own a couple of suburban Plymouth pubs.

My understanding is that Green King have been bought up and it's just a poor Plymouth Live headline (as usual) ''Plymouth pubs bought by Chinese multibillionaire in £2.7bn deal''

If the headline had been ''Plymouth pubs bought by Chinese multibillionaire as part of £2.7bn deal'' it would have been much clearer, but PL does like to over egg all things 'Plymouth'

Oh, so it was already owned by GK who have themselves been acquired!

The little shipping company I worked for in the 1980's went into a grand joint venture with Li-Ka Shing when he decided he had ships missing from all his toys, it very soon ended in shit when he realized money was going to be lost not gained. He's some ruthless operator

Brilliant, Plymouth Live would turn that into ''Plymouth Man wins presidential election'' (if Trump had a golf course here)
