Blackpool v Plymouth Argyle

John Brooks will referee Blackpool's Sky Bet League One fixture against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday
Games:27 YELLOWS 84 REDS 4

will be assisted by Nicholas Barnard and Lee Freeman.

Billy Smallwood will be on fourth official duties

ARGYLE CLUB NEWS

ARGYLE Manager Derek Adams is hoping his side can continue their climb up the Sky Bet League One table as they travel to Blackpool on Saturday.

The Greens have won their last two matches and have gone four unbeaten in the League in recent weeks which has propelled them up to 19th and just three points behind 12th positions.

Having won on Boxing Day against MK Dons Adams is looking for more of the same this Saturday.

Adams said: “Going away from home and picking up three points is excellent, and at this time of the year after coming off a very good win at home to Oldham, to go away to MK Dons and win has allowed us to catch a few teams above us.

“We have just been able to keep on winning games, and that’s what you need. Draws are good at some point, but wins are vital in this league.”

When asked about whether he felt Argyle were doing anything different in particular from the start of the season, Adams felt his squad returning to near full fitness was the key difference.

“The biggest difference is that the injuries and the suspensions have cleared up,” he said. “That has enabled us to have a stronger squad and to not have too many changes to the starting line up or the eighteen and that has benefited us with the games we have played.”

With Argyle only one point behind Blackpool going into Saturday’s game Adams knows it is not going to be easy for the Pilgrims to continue their run.

“They have changed their style a bit from last season,” said Derek. “We are looking to go there; we won their last year 1-0 in the League and it was a good day at the start of the season. It is another difficult journey for us but, we are looking forward to the game. They are a good side and started the season very well and have got used to life in League One very well.’

“We are one point behind them, and we just have to try and win the game and get above them. That’s what we have been trying to do in the last number of games and we have been able to do that, and this one is a game we want to win again.”

Roos gone back to Derby, waiting for Argyle to bring us up to date with the team in and out,
other wise the team seems to be clear of injuries and suspensions

BLACKPOOL CLUB NEWS

Gary Bowyer has admitted Blackpool “need to address” their home form.

The Seasiders’ 3-2 Boxing Day defeat to Scunthorpe United was their fifth in six games on home turf.

Blackpool’s storming start to the League One season was based largely on their hugely impressive home form, having enjoyed a six-game unbeaten run before going down 3-1 to Wigan Athletic in October.

But it is now away from home thaat wins look the more likely. Pool are preparing to welcome another in-form side to Bloomfield Road tomorrow – Plymouth Argyle have won four of their last six league games.

Pool boss Bowyer said: “Away from home we seem to be a lot more tighter but teams are coming here and sitting in against us.

“Once you give a quality team like Scunthorpe a two-goal head start, then it makes life very difficult, so it’s something we have to address, that’s for sure.”

Pool slipped to their third straight defeat against high-flying Scunthorpe on Tuesday, when former Fleetwood Town boss Graham Alexander’s Iron were gifted a 2-0 lead inside seven minutes.

The Seasiders managed to fight back but it wasn’t enough to deny Scunthorpe only their second-ever win at Bloomfield Road and their first since 2000.

“It was very disappointing,” Bowyer added. “You have to credit to Scunthorpe because they put their bodies on the line in the box and blocked shots.

“The first goal is a great strike from their lad (Tom Hopper), so we just had to hold our hands up and admit it was a great strike.

“But we needed to start both halves better and we needed to take our chances. If you’re summarising in a sentence ,there it is.

“But we’ve got to take heart and confidence from how we’ve gone about it against a team that’s in the play-offs and have the budget that they’ve got.

“For us to be competing like this and how they’ve gone about it, I’ve got nothing but praise for the players.

“What we have to do is erase the gifts that we keep on giving people here.

“For us to go and create the number of chances we have against a side like Scunthorpe is a credit to us.

“But we have to keep on at it now. We’ve scored two and that’s the frustrating bit because we’ve still lost.

“That’s where we need to tighten up, especially at home. Away from home we seem to be doing a lot better.”

GOALKEEPER Remi Matthews has rejoined the Pilgrims for the rest of the Sky Bet League One season.

The 23-year-old Norwich City custodian will resume his Argyle career in Saturday’s final game of 2017 at Blackpool.

Remi made seven appearances earlier in the campaign on emergency loan from Norwich before a leg injury sustained in a 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth in November curtailed his stay.

He has now recovered from the injury and linked up with his Argyle team-mates again for a Thursday training session at Harper’s Park.

With all three of Argyle’s contracted professional goalkeepers – Luke McCormick, Robbert te Loeke and Kyle Letheren – sidelined by injury, the first part of Remi’s stay will be covered the EFL’s emergency loan regulations.

That will be converted into a season-long loan when the transfer window opens after the holidays.

Listening to it on the radio.
Really wish the commentator would stop manking on about the players having to put in so many hours over Xmas and new year. It's boring mate and its the same woe is me talk every season at this point.
Maybe he should be reminded that many of us work 60-70 hour weeks every week. Boring cnut.

Except that Carey will be top of several lge1 shopping lists and a couple of CCC clubs to boot, I reckon losing Carey now is very likely, didn't want to stay, Plymouth price and all that to come.
