In the most unimaginative managerial appointment since Sturrock mk II got the gig, he's about to be replaced with David Moyes.

Been poor since the Preston and Everton days...wouldn't be surprised if they're relegated.

Emotional club, love proper attacking football, can be a bit thuggy outside of the stadium. As much as I follow any other team, I had thought the new stadium and huge crowds etc would have launched a new era, but maybe even those days are gone. I assume they have oscilated between the divisions for years for a reason, just as Newcastle have. I suppose they've never been one of the really big teams at that level, only in Alf Garnet's head. Tottenham were always likely to come good from time to time, but West Ham ? not without the modern version of the holy '66 trinity, they won't. They've let go far too many of their youngsters in recent decades....... as the seize the day song goes ... ......globalisation, it'a pirate's life for me. I see a pirate has been exposed at Arsenal and Everton. Its all a game, played out off shore and out of sight. Even Argyle had a bit of off shore crap around Brent's white smoke and anointment. The Burrrrrrgh Island connection.

I find the West Ham love boring.

-The constant harping on about winning the world cup despite cloggers like Charlton, Banks and Ball
- In fact their supposed Glory Years of the 60's here are their league positions 14th, 16th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 9th, 12th, 16th, 12th, 8th, followed by a 17th place in 1970.
- Far from being the lovable Cockney rogues that are portrayed you are unlikely to find openly racist supporter anywhere else in England
- Harry Redknapp
- Carlos Tevez
- The Football stadium which we all payed for like it or not.

feck them

I've got a few Hammer mates, they are all proper football fans all supported their team through their lives and love the away matches, all of them pretty well are what I would call hard bastards, they come from hard areas, all of them despite being the last people you would want to start a fight with are a right laugh to go on the piss with and never start any trouble. I take it your PC leanings fall short of the average footy fan then Hugh?

Personal experience but they are notorious for it, I went to the Old Boleyn once and it was ridiculous there were about several dishing out pretty unsavoury stuff. I've been to most London Grounds and it was by far the worst.

Zackly Les, football fans are painted in a way that no other minority group would be nowadays I find it sad when a fellow fan who champions other minority groups chooses to stick the boot into a group of thousands, all tarred with the same brush. Hypocritical to say the least. Beezer also did it tbf with his thuggish comment. No doubt there are thugs and racists amoung them but then is any club in the country without its BNP TCE HEADHUNTER element?

Gonna have to disagree mate, I've got family up that way who are staunch Irons queen and in my limited and their extensive experience Hammers fans are/were nowhere near as bad as Chelsea or Millwall were racism wise although the situation across the board has changed for the better.

True, every club has it's 'element' but it's not just footie fans.....the so called antifa types are as bad as any other thuggish movement imo.

Just my experience of west ham, Earwig. I would say the same of Millwall, Chelsea, Leeds, Cardiff, Middlesborough in Jackie Charlton's days, Bristol city. Like all tribes, and football fans act like tribes, some are more aggressive than others. I have rarely had problems with, for instance, Gulls or Wolves fans, but that's my experience, and never once felt aggression at arsenal in many visits.
The sad bit is your last statement highlighted above. There are not many demographic groups outside of football you could say that of.
Like it or not, certain behaviour has been encouraged deep within football, and it crystallises more in a small number of clubs. Some of the tribal element is no doubt a left over and tends to mimic contrived regimental crap that used to go on, and some stems right back to the parochial beating of the bounds that was put a stop to, sort of. It's not just here of course, and the last Balkan disaster first raised it's ugly head at football clubs like Partisan Belgrade. One of the reasons I detested Webb's encouragement of the Forza nerde thing.
I assume you wouldn't deny the fact that football in general has more of a racist/thuggee element than almost any other social grouping. I've spent enough time amongst football folk to know the culture. Always liked how West Ham demand proper football is played though, just as with Tottenham, and Liverpool too, if I think about it. Maybe Adams should be frog marched up to West Ham or Spurs to be schooled in the love of open football.

No other groups outside football you could say that about? How about young black men being "a bit stabby?" Or maybe Lybians being "a bit bomby?" Football fans are fair game to broad sweeping generilastions that just wouldn't be allowed against any other minority group. It's hypocritical.

What's the difference? Young black men a bit stabby, football fans a bit thuggy? Probably the same percentage of the demographic engage in thuggy or stabby behaviour, I'll let that hang there.

lol! I remember walking from Wolves ground after a game and you go under the road in a subway, some big Wolves fan gobs on a little Glaswegian homeless guy who promptly sets his Terrier/Collie cross dog on him savaging his leg as he tries to kick the dog, matey then jumps up and chases him off aided by the cur from hell, made our day.

The differences are pretty obvious, if you want to see them. Away from football, a football fan is just another random, free of any negative or lazy stereotypes that anyone might entertain about them. Bit trickier to step away from being black. That, and the fact that footy fans generally haven't been denied access to jobs, housing, education or civil liberties down through the years in any way at all, let alone on a widespread, systemic and institutional basis.

Although I would argue that half-and-half scarfers probably should be.

Yes I do get the difference Mike what I don't get is the barely veiled snobbery directed towards fans by fans.
