I have watched Argyle from 1961 onwards and am still not sure of the best team I've seen.
But if I could cherry pick from them all then this would be my team. They're not necessarily the best players or my favourite players. I've gone for 4-4-2 so that it's a balanced side and they are players that produced the goods in an Argyle shirt. No loanees either.

Jim Furnell

Tony Book
Graham Coughlan
Johnny Newman
Colin Sullivan.

David Norris
Norman Piper
Ernie Machin
Gary Nelson

Paul Mariner
Tommy Tynan

Sub, Johnny Williams.

Up front I'd substitute Paul Dalton for Gary Nelson and Billy Rafferty for Tynan

Couldn't argue too much with that team if 442, just a couple of changes for me, Furnell was Bleddy good though and couldn't part Mariner from Rafferty, not even for Sir Tommy

Jim Furnell. Dave MaClaren

Tony Book.
Graham Coughlan.
Johnny Newman
Colin Sullivan.

David Norris
Norman Piper
Ernie Machin
Gary Nelson

Paul Mariner
Tommy Tynan. Rafferty

Sub, Johnny Williams.
