FORMER Plymouth Argyle winger Gregg Wylde admits he would be open to a Home Park return if the opportunity came about.

Wylde left League One club Millwall on Wednesday morning after making the mutual decision was made terminate the remainder of his two-year contract there.

Argyle boss Derek Adams had expressed his interest in bringing Wylde back to Devon in an interview with the Herald in November 2016.

So Wylde has certainly been on his radar since his decision to join Millwall last summer.

Nothing came of Adams' interest in the former Rangers man in January, though, and Wylde went on loan to then-reigning League Two champions Northampton Town.

Now a free agent, the Scottish wide-man says he has had no contact from any club regarding his future just yet – that currently includes Plymouth Argyle.

But Wylde admits it's early days for him right now and that were Argyle to come calling for his services he'd seriously consider coming back to Devon.

"If the opportunity came about I'd certainly think about it," he exclusively told Herald Sport.

"Only reason I've left Millwall is that I signed a two year contract, had some games at the start of it but I was out on loan for the second half of the season.

"I needed first team football so I felt I had to leave.

"I've not had any contact from Plymouth or any other club at this moment in time.

"But if the opportunity came up I'd definitely speak to Plymouth.

"I just need to take it one step at a time."

Wylde was a regular feature in Derek Adams' Argyle side during the 2015/16 season.

He made 33 starts and 10 substitute appearances in League Two as the Pilgrims went on to lose the play-off final at Wembley.

Wylde grabbed seven goals for Argyle in that time.

Arguably his most important – and most memorable of those – was the late winner in a dramatic Dockyard derby at Fratton Park.

Argyle were 1-0 down for most of the game but a two-minute double salvo for the Pilgrims won it late on.

Jamille Matt headed home a corner just before Wylde slammed home from inside the box right in front of 2,000 travelling Argyle supporters.

"I think the goal I scored against Portsmouth when we beat them 2-1 was my favourite (memory)," Wylde told the Herald last year after he departed Argyle.

"The scenes at the end of that game were unbelievable.

"Obviously we went on to play them in the play-offs and beat them again.

"There's many games that had enjoyable moments but for me it's that Portsmouth goal that tops it; it's hard to beat scoring the comeback winner in a derby game."

Noone's current wage is around £15k a week, so even if we wouldn't say no, it's a racing certainty that Austerity Jim will be screaming no from the rooftops.

.....and on this occasion for once he would have been correct

Keeping our finances in the black is still PAFC's No1 aim.....so our available wage bill will be below some Div 1 clubs who are sailing nearer the wind and of course in the red because of it.

I feel sure that our wages will be quite competitive with most clubs in this division.....and with the added advantage of Derek Adams ability of sniffing out good players....we will be ok.....remember he has got nearly an extra month to plan this summer......this time last year we where still involved in promotion and planning was difficult not knowing which division we would be playing in.

Well he's going to have to cough up as lague one players cost more regardless off budget and del bhey plans for a few newbs to come in give the amount he$s allowed to leave plus Carey will be off too.

If he doesnt the club shop will be selling we are going down, next stop league two t-shirts next year.
