Speaking to Herald Sport, Brent said he only has two questions for the team boss when it comes to recruiting a transfer target, although more than just their playing ability must be considered.

"My role is very simple on recruitment, which is to ask Derek whether the player he is recruiting is within budget and whether he has enough budget to recruit the other players he needs to," he said.

"And if it's yes to both of those, and as long as there's no reputational issues surrounding the player, it is his call. I will not interfere.

But he is interfering. I would guess this is all about Carey, and maybe possibly a controversial new signing. It's Brent's attempt to put the blame squarely on Adams' shoulders when and if Carey goes because the budget isn't up to it. He's basically saying you can offer any player anything you like Del, but understand you'll have to have three players less in the squad.

Typical Tory, not understanding the value of the shop floor workers where promotion is won or lost, yet quite happy to push all manner of monies off into the nefarious professional fees/management/executive account.
Again, just where has that Liverpool/transfer windfall gone ?  The huge majority of fans would see that money as "football money" to fund a push onward and upward in FOOTBALL terms, not an opportunity to increase the shareholder value within the club by ploughing it into property. That's what pissed Holloway off.  That Liverpool money is shop floor/current account/football money.

How did Brent's eye for 'reputational issues' work out with Goodwillie then?

Keep it cheap, keep it ticking over, the blind faithful will still come through the turnstiles.
So basically he expects Derek to get players within strict budget limits, to be "competitive"  in the league, and make sure no one's dodgy.

Shyster through and through, he has no intention of getting to the championship.

Well Ched has signed for Sheff Utd and that also means John Terry is out the equation because he plays away when someone's not home. I mean we couldn't have anyone affiliated with Argyle who has messed on someone's doorstep can we now ...... just hang on a moment though ...... laugh

If Chris Webb sets the benchmark for acceptable who wouldn't get through?

Wonder what the benchmark is for 'reputational issues'.

Is he a gentleman?
Does he vote Tory?
Does he like fine wine?
Does he support blood sports?
Public school education?
Rogered incessantly by his house master?

If the answer to those is yes, then welcome to the inner circle dontchaknow.

I'm sure there are others.
