PostSubject: James Brent appoints a fan's rep   Mon Oct 03, 2016 10:37 am

"The club have since decided that they did not see anyone from the AFT fulfilling this role and have chosen a representative from elsewhere. This has been confirmed personally to me by James Brent."

Graham Clark on the farm, I wonder who it is.

No. The club have chosen a fan - not a representative. If they wanted a representative they could have approached one of the supporter's groups, or even held an election.

Anybody opening a book on who it's likely to be?

a spokesman for the silent majority would be a good choice.

I just hope it's the right sort of fan.

Just a normal fan who is positive about the club.

Not one of those Freaks who asks awkward questions.

This representative is for the PCC Stadium Safety Advisory Group.

Somebody who can recognise corrosion would be a start.

And of course the AFT had a whole team of building and construction experts who could have been called upon to advise on such matters, but presumably their connection with the AFT rules them out.

From PCC site, might be easiest way to find out.

Quote :
Safety advisory group
The Plymouth Safety Advisory Group (SAG) meets regularly in relation to Plymouth Argyle FC, Plymouth Albion RFC and Devonport Services RFC. For more information on SAG email buildcon@plymouth.gov.uk or call 01752 304343.

Total aside, thought the Rec was governed by MOD.

Engaging with supporters is one of the aims of the Sports Grounds Safety Authority who are responsible for stadium safety for sports grounds. Indeed, as far back as the Taylor Report consultation with supporter representatives was a recommendation.  Local Authorities are now actively encouraged to consult representatives of a recognised supporters' group where possible including attendance at SAG meetings if it were considered beneficial. PCC intended to move along this route.

The AFT were asked by PCC , through me, if they wanted to be represented. The AFT agreed my co-option to fulfill the role a while back and pre- the 'Never Again' campaign. I informed PCC of that decision only to be informed the Club had offered the suggestion of an alternative supporter 'group' to be represented. In a discussion with James Brent (on the 'Never Again' issues) that decision was confirmed to me. It is for the Club to say which group is representative. I did offer to work alongside that representative without success.

I understand there is an aspiration by PCC for the SAG meetings to be minuted and be publicly available like other PCC Committees. Other Local Authorities do it so why not PCC?

As far as I am concerned the matter is closed and the opportunity has been lost to build bridges between the Football Club and the largest elected supporter group.

If I may.... Do you know who the club representative is?

Do you know if it was the club or the rep who declined your offer of participation?

...and may I say... This decision by Brent, once again proves he makes horrendous ones.
